What Do You Get ForYour Membership?

Occupational Health Nursing Certification

 

Membership Categories

1.    Active Members 

                A registered nurse currently employed full or part time in occupational and environmental health.

2.      Inactive Members: 

Active members on temporary leave from the field of occupational and environmental health nursing due to hardship.

 

3.      Retired Members: 

A member retired from occupational environmental health health nursing.

 

4.      Affiliate Members:

§        A registered professional nurse or others not eligible for active status, but interested in the field of occupational and environmental health and the purposes of AAOHN.  

§       Others, not eligible for active status, but practicing in the field of occupational and environmental health and interested in the purposed of AAOHN.

 

5.      Student Members: 

§        A registered professional nurse enrolled as a student in a program of study related to occupational and environmental health.

§        A student in a professional nursing program with interest in occupational and environmental health.

 

6.      Honorary Members:

Conferred upon a past OSAOHN President upon retirement from employment in occupational and environmental health nursing and other occupational and environmental health nurses elected by the Board of Directors because of outstanding contributions to OSAOHN.

 

7.      Corporate/Business Members: 

An individual not otherwise qualifying for membership, or corporation contributing not less than $150.00 per year.

What Do you Get For Your Membership?

 

In joining the American Association of Occupational Health Nurses (AAOHN), you automatically become a member of OSAOHN. Some of the benefits you will receive as a member of AAOHN include:

AAOHN is the recognized authority for professional occupational health nursing practice standards. Standards of practice statements have been defined in the areas of policy, staff resources, nursing practice, and evaluation.

PUBLICATIONS

AAOHN Communications:

 The official magazine, AAOHN Journal, is published monthly and contains articles on technical matters, nursing practice, public policy statements, and study courses for continuing education credits.

Special manuals, brochures and guides for promoting  effective  nursing skills and standards are available on request.

 

A newsletter is published monthly.

 

 

 

 

 

 

OREGON STATE AOHN Communications:

 

 

 

 

 

§        A newsletter is mailed/emailed to members 2-3 times a year. It contains details of local, regional and national affairs or events. Newsletter

 

§      The OSAOHN website at www.OSAOHN.org contains information about OSAOHN, upcoming events, and much more.

 

§      Meeting notification is mailed/emailed to members prior to monthly meetings. Meetings

 

§      Telephone, FAX, and e-mail communications are used when appropriate.

CONTINUING EDUCATION - AAOHN

AAOHN provides the following continuing education opportunities:

 

American Occupational Health Conference (AOHC) - annual

Leadership conference -annual

Independent study modules published monthly in the AAOHN Journal are also available online.

CONTINUING EDUCATION - OSAOHN

The Oregon State AOHN provides a variety of programs and continuing education offerings throughout the year. Continuing education credits are approved by California Board of Registered Nurses and meet the requirements for continuing education credits for Washington and California Boards of Nursing. The Association supports joint efforts with other professional occupational health and safety organizations to hold conferences and meetings to improve the practice of all occupational health and safety professionals.
